US philosopher Longino: I impressed by Öcalan's call 2025-09-05 12:50:08   ANKARA - US feminist and philosophy of science professor Helen Longino, in a letter to the DEM Party, said, "I was impressed by Abdullah Ocalan’s call to set aside the armed struggle and use peaceful means to achieve full rights for all citizens of Turkey, including the Kurds."    US feminist and philosophy of science professor Helen Longino sent a letter to the Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party regarding Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's 27 February call for peace and democratic society.   Longino wrote the following in her letter: "I have read the platform of the DEM Party and welcome its commitment to helping bring about a peaceful, pluralist, democratic society in Turkey.  I was impressed by Abdullah Ocalan’s call to set aside the armed struggle and use peaceful means to achieve full rights for all citizens of Turkey, including the Kurds. I wish you well. "   WHO IS HELEN LONGINO?   Longino is a professor of Philosophy at Stanford University and the author of numerous books on the philosophy of science, social epistemology and feminist philosophy. Longino, who concluded that "feminism needs science, and science needs feminism", is recognised as one of the most influential feminist philosophers of science with her studies on the social dimensions of scientific knowledge and the relationships between social and cognitive values.
