ANKARA- The release of 13 prisoners remaining in Karabük Type T Prison was postponed by the decisions of the Administration and Observation Board on the grounds that they "did not behave well"

In Karabük Type T Closed Prison, which is frequently on the agenda with rights violations, the release of some political prisoners was prevented by the decisions of the Administration and Observation Board (IGK), even though they completed their sentences. The release of 13 of the 26 political prisoners who completed their sentences were postponed by the Board's decisions taken at different times.

The Board, which prevented the release of prisoners on the grounds that they "did not behave well" with abstract comments, blocked and postponed the releases. The decision on 6 of these 13 prisoners was postponed at once for 12 months. Due to these decisions of the Board, no political prisoners have been released in the last 2 and a half years, even though they have completed their sentences.

The names of the political prisoners in prison whose releases were postponed by the IGK and their postponements are as follows: Şirin Taşdemir 6 months, Hakkı Aygün 6 months, Halil Temel 6 months, Kadri Alkoç 3 months, Ahmet Bayna 3 months, Ejder Doğan 15 months, Ali Koç 15 months, Abdullah Ok 9 months, Aydın Kudat 15 months, Abdurrahman Güner 15 months, Mustafa Karakaya 12 months and Adem Oktay 6 months.

PRISON ADMINISTRATORS THREATENED

The political prisoners are subjected to threats from prison administrators. In the message they sent to the public through their lawyers, the prisoners said that M.Ö. and F.Ç., the first and second directors of the prison, said to them: "We will not give you a good behaviour report under any circumstances. We will postponement of your releases."

Stating that they also had problems accessing health services. The prisoners noted that they refused to go to the hospital due to the imposition of handcuffed examinations and oral searches.

THE COURT'S RELEASE DECISION FAILED TO PASS THE BOARD

The Administration and Observation Board, which prevented the release of political prisoners, at to the point of not even recognizing the decisions of the Constitutional Court. After the Constitutional Court annulled the regulating the crime of "committing a crime on behalf of a terrorist organization without being a member of it", a political prisoner named Ahmet Bayna, who was convicted under this article of the law, applied to the 9th High Criminal Court on December 15 with requesting his release. The court decided to release Bayna on December 19.

The prison Administration and Observation Board, which met on the same day, did not implement the court's decision, claiming that Bayna was not of "good behavior". Then Bayna applied to the Karabük Execution Judgeship through his lawyers. The judgeship agreed to the decision of the Administration and Observation Board to be in accordance with the procedure and law.
