ÊLIH - In Êlih (Batman), a march will be held and a "Peace Platform" will be set up on the occasion of the World Peace Day on 1 September.
As preparations for 1 September World Peace Day continue, the programmes of the cities are becoming clearer. In Êlih, one of the cities where 1 September will be celebrated, some activities will be organised under the leadership of the Labour and Democracy Platform: "Now is the time to shout for peace". A march will be organised from Basın Junction to Yılmaz Güney Park. In addition, a "Peace Platform" will be set up there. The march will start at 18.30 pm local time.
Êlih Labour and Democracy Platform Co-Speaker Narin Erol said that they have been welcoming 1 September with the hope of a free society and peace for years. Drawing attention to the atmosphere that emerged after Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society", Narin Erol said that the developments raised the hope for peace even more.
Narin Erol said: "There was always a hope for peace, democratic society and living in a democratic country. There is now a ground to fight for this. This year's 1 September will also take place in such an atmosphere. With the magnificent march we will organise in Batman, we will show the world the longing of the people of Batman for peace."
Narin Erol stated that the "Peace Platform" that they will set up after the march will take words about peace and said, "Everyone who uttered the discourse of peace became the target of this system. Now it is time to shout it from the highest pitch. It is necessary to rest there how much the youth, women, farmers, labourers, the poor, everyone needs peace and what we will gain by achieving this peace."
